Identity verification
As with anybody you meet, it is ultimately your responsibility to use sound judgement and safety measures. It is important to act with caution when working with someone you are just getting to know.
Please see our safety tips page for proper precautions when working with your match.
To discourage dishonest behavior, ConnectOne requires reasonable identity verification for matches that intend to meet in-person.
It is important to know this has limitations. It does not provide any guarantee an individual will not act with dishonest intent, or fraudulent information was not provided. Always use your own instincts as you interact with your match.
Examples of identity verification are below. They vary by individual, and we may ask for more than 1 depending on the strength of the identification provided.
Identification Verification Examples
- send us an email from a work or school account
- proof of affiliation with an employer, school, or community program
- an established LinkedIn account
- proof of address
- government-issued ID (last 5 digits can be blacked out)
ConnectOne checks the Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) when a potential match is likely.
